So my three year old doesn’t really seem to have a solid understanding of the alphabet (please don’t comment how your one year old can already read). She can sing her ABCs but when it comes down to it she’s not 100% clear on which letter is which or that kangaroo starts with k. I would like to add that she is a whiz at numbers, addition and subtraction.
But I digress.
To help learn these fundamentals, I’ve purchase alphabet books and ipad apps and am trying to make it “fun”. Perhaps what I should have done was change my name. While this isn’t new news, it’s news to me. It seems there is a woman in the UK that changed her name to help teach her child the alphabet. Here it is:
Ceejay A Apple B Boat C Cat D Dog E Elephant F Flower G Goat H House I Igloo J Jellyfish K Kite L Lion M Monkey N Nurse O Octopus P Penguin Q Queen R Robot S Sun T Tree U Umbrella V Violin W Whale X X-Ray Y Yo-Yo Z Zebra Terryn Feuji-Sharemi.
There is value in names. Names can meaningful and sometimes they are very informative. Just not in this case. I’m willing to bet the only thing her son learned was that mommy is silly.
