Is there anything money can’t buy?
It seems that if you have enough money you can now “buy” colours. I came across a posting about Cadbury winning a legal battle against Nestle over the use of a certain purple pantone.- 2685C. I hadn’t heard of this dispute before.
I kind of get it I guess. They are competitors and both super powers of chocolate land but really? You can trademark colours now? That’s going to pose some problems for the advertisers and advertisees of the world. Who is going to win the battle of red? Coke or Pepsi? And yes I realize they probably use different pantones, I’m just trying to make a point.
In the meantime I’m going to look into registering a trademark for Pantone Black C – it is after all the colour of my heart.
