I’m noticing lately that people seem… hmmm… what’s the word I’m looking for? Let’s go with tense. Yes. People seem a little more tense then usual lately. Perhaps it has something to do with the rain (though there hasn’t been that much), or maybe it’s that the days are longer so less sleep is taking place? Either way – there is some serious tension lately and I would just like to take a minute to remind everyone that untensifying (new word) can be as easy as taking a second to laugh.
According to Google:
-Laughing 100 times a day can equal up to 15 minutes on an exercise bike (consider my gym membership cancelled)
– After a healthy dose of laughter a person’s cortisol and epinephrine (2 stress hormones which suppress a body’s immune system) will actually begin to decrease.
-Laughter helps us bond with others – “Laugh and the world laughs with you” right?
-The ability to laugh at your own mistakes can help lower your blood pressure
-Laughter helps the body produce and release a bacteria and virus fighter called immunoglobin A (that name alone is reason enough to giggle)
Turns out adults only laugh on average 15 times a day (guess I won’t be cancelling my gym membership after all), while children laugh on average 400 times a day.
They say laughter is contagious so please take a moment (03:15 minutes to be exact) and get into it people!
