Making the Alberta Fast Growth 50 List – A Partner’s Perspective

Posted on January 11, 2016 by

Alberta Venture magazine’s Fast Growth 50 list of companies is an exciting list to be on. It’s a reminder of the hard work that has been put into the business and all of those that have contributed to the success of zag creative. There’s the partners, the staff, the clients, the suppliers and there’s also those people who support the partners, the staff, the clients and suppliers. That’s a lot of people who should be proud of the roles they played.

Making the list is something I am proud of as a partner and as an individual who works hard in and on the business every day.

Making the list is also a reminder that we need to continue working hard to do great things. The work is never over. I for one strive to be better tomorrow than I was today.

Looking for an Organized Administrator

You’re so prepared you’re really pre-prepared.

Strategist

Posted on September 2, 2015 by

You’re so strategic you’re almost clairvoyant. This is the person that zag creative is looking to add to our strategy team. Crystal balls and Tarot cards aside, you are an experienced strategist and one of those people that think 10 steps ahead. Always.

While the ability to see the future is not a required skill, seeing the bigger picture is. The ideal person for this position thinks big and understands how all the small parts fit together. It’s not enough to have the ideas, the ability to convey how those ideas are carried out to achieve results is critical.

You are able to work collaboratively with a team but can also rock the solo missions as well. When it comes to the development of marketing and communications plans, you’ve worked on so many that it’s hard to pick one as being the best (but try and think of one because we will ask). Basically you are a seasoned veteran that keeps coming to the table with new ideas. You’ve learned from your experiences but understand that marketing is ever evolving and being open-minded is sometimes the key to awesomeness.

Tell us more about how your experience makes you the right person for a Strategist role at zag creative. Forward your resume to Trina Danis, VP Creative Services at trina@zagcreative.ca.

Short listed applicants will be contacted for interviews.

Purple is the New Black

Posted on August 20, 2015 by

A new colour will hopefully soon cover the 104th District Area downtown: purple. zag creative has proudly sponsored this awesome initiative to get our neighbourhood Purple Flag accredited by the Association of Town and City Management. What this accreditation means for our vibrant street is recognition as a safe and diverse community that demonstrates excellence in nightlife and security.

Spanning from 102nd to 106th Street and 104th to 98th Avenue, this area is different from many others in Edmonton. The historical buildings and warehouses of our community are filled with exciting art galleries, restaurants, bars, small businesses, and more! There’s something exciting every day on 104th Street from the Farmer’s Market to Al Fresco this weekend, and other celebrations that bring this urban community together.

The process of getting accredited requires demonstrating, using facts and statistics, that our community is setting exemplary standards in well-being & safety, transportation, collaboration, has a diverse nightlife and appeals to a variety of tastes. There’s certainly no shortage of initiatives and committees downtown that have been working together to develop an exciting and fun community!

If accepted, the 104th District Area will be the first area in North America to be Purple Flag accredited — currently there are 56 Purple Flag communities in the United Kingdom. There have never been more cranes working in downtown Edmonton, as Rogers Place, the Ice District, and other towers are being built. As downtown Edmonton continues to grow at breakneck speeds, this accreditation will help to increase the image of downtown and 104th Street as an exemplary area of Edmonton.

We’re so excited to be part of this really cool opportunity to put our community on the map and further the perception of our downtown as an urban community that is vibrant with a variety of businesses and residences! Stay tuned for more as we go through the accreditation process and chase the Purple Flag.

We don’t just want to know what.

zag creative is a busy marketing firm and with that comes high demands and an environment where excellence is expected. Our ideal candidate is known for developing strategic marketing and communications plans that achieve goals. They are willing to work in a team or independently, as projects dictate, and strong communication skills just go without saying (except they don’t because you are a thorough communicator as well).

Tell us how you are everything we are looking for and more with the “and more” possibly being any experience you have with other agencies or firms, copywriting or that awesome idea you had that changed the world. Forward your resume to Trina Danis, VP Creative Services at trina@zagcreative.ca.

Overachiever Wanted

Posted on April 22, 2015 by

Ask any one of our staff and they’ll tell you that zag creative only hires exceptional people. Well, we’re at it again.

We’re not your typical ad agency. We’re better.
In that same vein, we don’t just look for typical people for typical roles. We’re looking for someone incredible that can help our busy client services team as well as act as the face of zag creative at the front desk.

We want an overachiever who wants more challenges and less time watching the clock. Our office doesn’t have clock-watchers, we have clock racers. We want an experienced administrative whiz that aspires to grow out of an administrative role and into a full-time role on the account team one day.

If you are looking for a place to grow, zag creative might be the place for you. Only the exceptional need apply. Send your resume to Alyson Hodson, President & CEO at alyson@zagcreative.ca.

zag on Global!

This past Wednesday, we held our first ever flu clinic! Our friend Jen from Shoppers Drug Mart came in to administer the shots and nasal spray.

Yesterday, we spoke to Global News Edmonton about our attempt to help stop the spread of influenza.  Check out the video below!

We Are All In!

Posted on October 2, 2014 by

We lifted boxes, we pushed heavy thingy’s around, we flexed all our muscles (including the patient ones) and we worked as the rock star team that we are, to get it done. We are officially in our new space and it’s ah-maaaaaazzzzing!

I can’t believe we’re here; in the heart of it all. Feel free to stop by at #301, 10154 – 104 Street and check out our new digs. All I can say is, if you thought our last office was cool, wait until you see THIS place! (Insert squeal of joy here)

I love this neighbourhood already. Credo Coffee is below us (I anticipate frequenting it even more than I did before). Kelly’s Pub is also our new neighbor and if you haven’t heard, they have jamaoke on Thursday night where you can sing karaoke with the band. Why do I know this? Well, I may have partaken in this maybe one or two times before. Maybe.

There are so many places to eat or grab some wine after work too. Tzin is across the street, which is a lovely little wine bar and Dauphine Bakery & Bistro is a hop, skip and a jump away for fabulous European delectableness. While unpacking boxes last night, we picked up a burger from The Burg just down the way. I’m still full.

We are so happy to be here and can’t wait to discover the rest of our new neighbourhood.

Check out some of the photos from the move below!
