Vote for me!

Posted on January 14, 2011 by

The Alberta North Chapter of the GDC is holding their AGM on January 26th and I am up for re-election.

If you are a professional member you should come and cast your vote and earn my undying love and admiration. Oh, and there are light refreshments, a cash bar and a free screening of “Exit Through the Gift Shop” in case that helps sweeten the deal.

If you arent a member you can still come and enjoy the evening – you might even decide to sign up!

Details can be found here.

Fancy speak:

The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC) is a member-based organization of design professionals, educators, administrators, students and associates in communications, marketing, media and design related fields.

Since 1956, the GDC has been an advocate, voice and resource for Canada’s graphic design profession. The GDC is a national certified body of graphic designers promoting high standards of visual design and ethical business practices for the benefit of Canadian industry, commerce, public service and education. Through the media, publications, seminars, events, conferences and exhibits, the GDC builds awareness of graphic design and its essential role in business and society.

Plain english:

The GDC is a great way to get involved with the design community both locally and nationally while promoting good design practices and ethics to your peers and clients.

I have been a part of the association for a few years now and also sit on the board as the Membership Chair. We are holding our next professional review for new members in June and I encourage you to check it out. I have an entire weekend set aside for the review so the more portfolios submitted, the better I will feel about coming into work on a weekend!

Details for the review can be found here. If you have any questions about the benefits or application process please feel free to email me!
